Mohammed Amghar

Stacks Image 868
Mohamed holds a Bachelor degree in Mathematics, a Master in Actuarial Science and a Master in Statistics from the Université Libre Bruxelles (ULB). Currently he is a Ph.D. Candidate at the department of mathematics under the supervision of Maarten Jansen. His PhD focuses on the choice of the bandwidth in a multiscale local polynomial data transform and on the application of smoothing techniques in nonparametric density estimation.

Clément Cerovecki

Stacks Image 857
Clément obtained a bachelor degree in Mathematics from Université Pierre-et-Marie Curie in Paris and a Master in Mathematics from ULB. He is now doing a PhD supported by a FRIA grant from the FNRS, under the supervision of Siegfried Hörmann (ULB) and Christian Francq (Lille 3). His PhD topic concerns various problems in functional time series such as asymptotics in the spectral domain and estimation of functional GARCH models.

Christine Cutting

Stacks Image 803
Christine obtained a bachelor degree in mathematics from ULB in 2011, a master in engineering from Ecole des Mines in Paris in 2014 and a master in statistics from Université Pierre-et-Marie Curie in 2014. She is now acting as a teaching assistant at the department of mathematics and is doing a PhD under the supervision of Davy Paindaveine and Thomas Verdebout. Her PhD topic concerns Le Cam-type asymptotics in various high-dimensional problems, in particular the problem of testing uniformity on the unit sphere.

Bastien Marquis

Stacks Image 842
Bastien has a bachelor degree in Mathematics and a Master in Applied Mathematics. He did most of his studies at UPPA (Pau, France) and has participated in a student exchange with the University of Dundee (Scotland). He is now a PhD student at ULB and his work is within the research programme "structured statistical and computational tools in high-dimensional recovery, with applications in medical imaging". His supervisor and co-supervisor are Maarten Jansen and Caroline Verhoeven.

Gilles Nisol

Gilles has accomplished studies in physics engineering. He also has a bachelor in mathematics and a research master in economics. His PhD is supervised by Siegfried Hörmann. His research interests include functional data analysis, factor models and statistical learning.

Joséa Rasoafaraniaina

Stacks Image 812
Joséa obtained a bachelor degree in mathematics from Université d'Antananarivo (Madagascar) and a master degreee in applied mathematics to social sciences from Université de Lille (France). Now, she is doing a PhD under the supervision of Thomas Verdebout and Davy Paindaveine, and is a teaching assistant at the Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management. Her PhD topic concerns preliminary test estimation in uniformly locally and asymptotically normal models.

Julien Remy

Stacks Image 822
Julien obtained a bachelor degree in Mathematics from the Vrije Universiteit Brussel and a Master in Statistics from ULB. He is now acting as a teaching assistant at the department of mathematics and is doing a PhD under the supervision of Thomas Verdebout and Davy Paindaveine. His research studies considers the asymptotic behavior of some procedures for principal components analysis, in challenging scenarios close to spherically symmetric distributions.
